The Response

The Thinking Christian Framework

Resistance is not a program but a posture. The framework describes the architecture of theological maturity with four interlocking components that address an unwavering allegiance to God, instincts fitted to God’s reality, reasoning that emerges from our relationship with God, and a structured, deliberate practice of discernment.

In brief

Resistance is not a program but a posture. The framework describes the architecture of theological maturity with four interlocking components that address an unwavering allegiance to God, instincts fitted to God’s reality, reasoning that emerges from our relationship with God, and a structured, deliberate practice of discernment.

A Four-Part Framework

The framework’s four components describe the architecture of the kingdom counter-field through which genuine theological maturity becomes possible. The framework describes what that maturity looks like via four interlocking components. It serves as Thinking Christian’s guiding theological scaffolding for embracing the true sacred-social order by resisting assimilation, fragmentation, and transaction while combating tendencies toward inversion and blunting the effects of amplification.

01

Recognizing God’s Reality

Reordering loves, reorienting attention, responding to God.

The willingness to accept God's claim on our lives so that allegiance to him shapes our thought and action.

The foundational reality of Christian life. Christian thought begins with allegiance to the Triune God, not with ideas about him.

02

Cultivating a Theological Disposition

A theological sense of how the world works.

The pre-reflective, instinctual, theological sense of the way the world works.

The pre-reflective, instinctual sense, formed in Christ’s body, that God is infinitely more relevant than any other actor or factor.

03

Practicing Theo-Logic

A shared, cruciform way of reasoning.

A structured way of reasoning that holds under pressure when the tribe, the algorithm, and the market are offering competing logics.

A structured way of reasoning that holds under pressure when the tribe, algorithm, and market are offering competing logics.

04

Committing to Disciplined Inquiry

A structured practice of Christian discernment.

The patient, non-defensive work of considering four ways of knowing (the Quad).

The Quad: four ways of knowing and questioning that trains Christian discernment in a complex world.
