In the Beginning: Genesis and the Shape of the World

Genesis 1–11 as Theological Witness

The opening chapters of Genesis carry more theological weight than almost any other passage in Scripture, and they have been read in more ways than almost any other passage. They have been pressed into service in debates over science, gender, race, and origins, sometimes in ways that obscure what the text is actually doing. This series works through the early chapters of Genesis with attention to what the text says on its own terms, how it would have been heard by its first audience, and what it tells Christians about creation, humanity, and the God who made and ordered the world.

About Rebekah Josberger and Renee Duffy

Rebekah Josberger, PhD, and Renee Duffy co-host The Bible Unbranded Podcast, which works closely with the biblical text in conversation with the categories Scripture's first audiences would have brought to it. They bring that close-text discipline to the Genesis conversations across the series.
